By the end of this year, more than 10% of Americans will own cryptocurrencies, according to the study

More Americans than ever before will own digital assets by the end of 2022, according to new data on cryptocurrency ownership in the United States.

About 34 million Americans will own bitcoin by the end of this year, according to research firm Insider Intelligence, according to a forecast for the cryptocurrency business released on April 20. That equates to about 10 percent of the population, while the firm says the percentage is higher at 12.8 percent, likely based on adult population data rather than total population data.

The researchers expect the number of individuals in the U.S. who own and use cryptocurrencies for payments to double by 2023. It goes on to say that 3.6 million Americans will use digital assets as a payment method this year.
